The announcement text: |
Our client is a global leader in the development and supply of advanced manufacturing solutions, predominantly to the automotive industry. Due to the success of their innovative products they seek a number of highly motivated individuals that are keen to travel and enjoy a challenge. The positions are primarily concerned with the installation and support of custom software that employs lasers to guide robot manipulators in a variety of applications.
They are looking for people with an understanding of the functioning of robot controllers, including the principles of the 3D mathematics employed, combined with a practical, hands-on problem solving nature. Experience of programming an industrial robot manipulator, as well as experience of systems programming in a PC environment, is also desirable.
It is likely that the successful candidates will be educated to either bachelors or masters degree level and be able to demonstrate many, if not all, of the following:
• Knowledge of computer systems’ architecture, computer interfacing and device drivers. • An understanding of a number of computer-computer communications media including RS-232, Ethernet, Profibus, CAN bus or Interbus. • Experience of manipulating databases and spreadsheets. • The ability to program in at least one high-level (object orientated) language; Visual Basic is preferred, but C*C++, Java, Pascal (Delphi) would provide suitable conversion bases. • Training in linear algebra including vector-matrix calculations and the solution of n-dimensional linear systems. • Familiarity with the mathematics used to represent 3D geometry, including homogenous transforms, rotation matrixes, Euler angles and quaternions. • An appreciation of basic statistics including correlation coefficients and linear regression. • Knowledge of the structure and function of industrial robot manipulator controllers, including the roles of frames of reference. • Familiarity with a robot programming language such as PDL, Karel, KRL, Rapid or VAL.
Due to the amount of travel expected to be associated with these posts the ability to communicate in a language or languages in addition to English would be an advantage.
